Field Trip to Walker Art Center
March 2014
March 2014
Pine City art students studied the modern and conceptual artworks of the Walker Art Museum and Sculpture Garden on March 26th. Students were able to participate in the field trip with money raised from community events put on by our students such as the "Pottery & Chili" event from 2013. Please join us in our upcoming community event "Pottery & Ice Cream" to be held Monday, April 7th from 6:00-7:30 in the 7th Grade Commons. (See poster ad above for more info). The opening reception for our 7th Annual Student Art Show will also be on display at this time. Come check it out.
Field Trip to Minneapolis Institute of Art Museum
January 2014
The art department was awarded a grant through Target to take a field trip to the MIA museum. All Drawing and Painting students were able to attend. Drawing student Brandon Wilson summed up what he gained from the trip nicely.
"What I took away from this experience is to not just look at a piece of art and see the shell so to speak, but to look beneath the surface and see the possible meanings and every intricate detail and angle that the artist was going after. The artists are not to so much interested in creating art to appeal to the public, but to satisfy themselves, and sometimes in a way that is sort of mysterious, by making their art works not so obvious to the average eye. It creates a sense of wonder, opening doors to so many different opportunities and outcomes."
